Psychodynamic therapy places focus on the impact our past experiences have had in our current lives. Thus, we do this by linking significant experiences that a person has gone through and how those experiences are affecting his/her current life such as relationships. This is done with the aim of developing new and healthy defense mechanisms to dealing with the past, and finding new ways to relate to others and better cope in the future.
